Garlic & Sea Salt Knots

During the summer, when impromptu gatherings are much more likely to happen compared to the winter months, I like to have some go-to appetizer recipes for things that I can make quickly with items on hand. These garlic and sea salt knots are great because they’re tasty and easy to make, good for adults and kids alike, can be dressed up with great mustards and other dips, and the simple ingredients will keep frozen or packaged for long periods of time. I find that last part to be especially important when at the cabin – I can’t always haul out a full load of groceries, nor can I leave things out there that don’t have a shelf life. All of these ingredients can be kept in the fridge, pantry or freezer and used only when you want to make a quick, homemade, yummy snack. The recipe and simple steps are below.

My little helper. My kids always are more interested in eating things that they have had a hand in making.

Recipe
Garlic & Sea Salt Knots
(Adapted from The Forest Feast)

Ingredients

Packaged pizza dough (frozen or mix – I like the mix because there is even less planning required if I don’t have to thaw the dough)
3 teaspoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons butter
Sea salt for garnish (flaked sea salt is great, but not necessary)

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Roll out the pizza dough and cut into strips, about 6 to 8 inches long.
Roll strips into log shapes and tie in a knot.
Place on a greased cookie sheet and place in the oven for 10-12 minutes.
While the knots are in the oven, melt the butter with the garlic.
After 10-12 minutes, take out the knots, brush with the warm garlic butter and place back in the oven until golden (about 3 to 5 more minutes).
Brush again with the warm garlic butter (adding some of the minced garlic to the top of the knots), top with sea salt and serve – alongside spicy mustard and cold beer is highly recommended!

I could risk a reaction to gluten for those.

      I think they will be on our list for the cabin this weekend, too! So yummy. And a fun thing to do with the kids. (;
