Cupcake Flowers

There are few things as bright and cheery as fresh cut flowers. There are also few things as impractical for a little girl’s room. Over the next few weeks I’ll be transitioning Ella’s room from nursery to big girl’s room, and have been thinking of fun ways to decorate the room with vibrant and fun color. I wanted to do something with flowers, but don’t particularly like the looks of so many of the artificial options. My mom came up with this cute idea for DIY flowers out of cupcake wrappers. The step by step process is included below.

Marsala Just Missed

Marsala has been tagged a hot color for 2015, which wasn’t top of mind when I purchased these pants (which while perhaps not right on point with the hue, are certainly in the family). I just loved the comfortable style and was limited in color options available at the time I ordered. I personally find the deeper, red-brown tones harder to work with for an outfit compared to, for example, the bright cherry reds of summer. I do love the white, black and charcoal combo through – with anything really, but particularly when set off by a dark red. No doubt the fashion options for marsala will explode in the coming months, so we’ll see if any other things make it into my closet.

Coconut Peanut Butter Balls

This dessert has three of my favorite things – coconut, peanut butter and the phrase “no-bake.” I had the dates on hand over the holidays and made these quickly after lunch and before dinner on Christmas Day. We had previously determined that we weren’t going to do anything for dessert after the mid-day meal, but I could tell that people were getting a hankering for something sweet. These were quick, easy and delicious (recipe below).
