Honey Pepper Figs & Spicy Raspberry Bites

Several weeks ago I was looking for something or other at Anthropologie and started flipping through the cookbook, The Forest Feast (link here). I loved the stylish photography, great artwork, and simple instructions. I purchased the cookbook, and have been happily perusing it ever since. I thought this fig appetizer recipe looked delightful, and not just because it didn’t involve turning on the oven. I paired these goodies with some spicy raspberry bites, made simply by topping a cracker of your choice with a bit of goat cheese, a fresh raspberry and dollop of jalapeno raspberry jam. Yum.

Slice fresh figs, drizzle with honey, top with feta cheese, chopped mint, and hot pepper flakes.

Reality Check. I tried these appetizers on a weekend when we had extended family at the cabin. When it comes to figs, my family probably prefers the Newton variety. These were fresh and delicious, but perhaps better suited for fun, fancy cocktails with girlfriends rather than a bunch of folks drinking beer and chasing after kiddos. The raspberry bites were a big hit, but would have been just as pleasing to this crowd had I simply dumped the jam on the goat cheese and had them dig in. Just as tasty, but even less time in the kitchen.

Definitely trying the fig appetizer, sounds yummy. My family would prefer the newton variety as well, but that just means more for me!

Thanks for the comment! Did you try the recipe, and how did it go over with the fam? I received an invite today for moms’ night out, and am excited to try it with that group!
