As the credit card balance started ramping up in preparation for our spring break trip (primarily the swim gear and warm weather gear for the kids I’ve noted in previous posts), I decided to scale back on some of my own purchases. I returned the red floral Tory Burch t-shirt dress (although I did keep these red shoes!) and opted for this $26 Old Navy dress instead (even less when combined with one of the brand’s regular 30% off promotions). I wanted some fun new things to wear, but when outings away from the beach and condo are usually only as fancy as heading to the splash pad or grabbing gelato, then designer dresses are hardly necessary.

Reality Check. Once again, everything about this trip is so much different than when I used to go when I was younger, like when Red Stripe referred to the one thing we could afford to drink on the island.
