Lilly and the Little Ones

I never thought I would be the mom in the Lilly Pulitzer dress that matches her daughter’s, but that was before I had Ella, and certainly before she was able to express her strong preference toward dresses – pretty pink dresses, to be more specific. So, for the occasion of heading on our first spring break trip as a family and to a location as beachy and beautiful as Grand Cayman, I thought the splurge was justified. And we have Taylor, in his backwards baseball cap, NFL tee and shorts from two years ago, which helps bring down the girlie factor.

Ella’s outfit details and links: Lilly Pulitzer dress (love this one too, but didn’t want to risk her not liking the slight lion motif) | Pediped shoes
Taylor’s outfit details and links: All too old and worn to be available anymore! Just how every guy in my family likes their clothes. ( :

Reality Check. The original intent behind this post was to have a set of mom and daughter pictures, but upon looking at them the next day I realized that in about 80% of the shots Ella was holding up her skirt to show off her tummy…and her underwear.

    Haha, love it!!! I used to looks through the Talbots and Talbots kids catalog and beg my mother to get our family a full matching outfit, however it’s not her or my dad’s style….my poor children will probably beg me to NOT match them.

      It’s funny because my husband is all about the matching outfits…it’s really just Taylor that would be mortified (and refuse!).

    Beautiful family, stunning setting! Lilly herself would be proud.

    So cute! How was it getting to Grand Cayman with two little ones? Did you like where you stayed?

      Thanks Jen! It was great, and travel there was really easy. And note that this is coming from a mom that essentially refused to travel with them at younger ages. But at 3 and 6 they now can travel without special gear (thik diapers, special car seats or contraptions to lug on the plane, strollers, baby food, etc.) and are tickled by the notion of watching movies on an IPad and having lots of treats. So that part was great! We did a direct flight from Minneapolis, which also helped. Although the Cayman airport is so small and SUCH a mess on Saturdays (too many flights/travelers) that I’m not quite sure I would put the ease of non-stop flights ahead of taking a longer route on a weekday. We LOVED where we stayed and I did a fair amount of research on that – I will email you directly with more details on that if you’re interested! (;

        Kerry– would love to know where you stayed, places to take the kids, and any other tips (when you have time). Trying to decide whether to take our 4 and 6 year olds to GC or Mexico. Thanks! Love all your pics!
