This dress is like the warm weather version of the red patterned tunic I wrote about in early December (link here). I actually first tried it on several months ago, in early fall. I remember telling Trevor that I liked it because it was so different than other things I own, but at the time I didn’t think I would wear it enough to justify paying full price, especially since at the time we were about to enter into the colder months. But seeing it now on sale and with spring knocking on the door, it was a much better time to buy. Dresses like this make for easy and quick decisions during busy mornings, when I want to grab just one thing out of my closet and go. The dress is itself busy, with lots of pattern and details going on, but they all seem to work together. It’s nicely lined too, which makes it a nice weight for rushing into the office as well as when heading off to more casual outings.

It’s been a long time since the styles at Ann Taylor LOFT have caught my eye, as evidenced by the fact that I didn’t know that it’s now simply called LOFT. But the other day I was breezing through the mall over my lunch hour and saw this combo in the window – a nice winter white, a great weight for chilly weather, and a pattern just asking to be mixed with a little something extra underneath, like this polka dot button-down shirt.

A couple of my favorite sweaters from this season are already looking a little sad from pilling (if anyone has a good prevention or solution to that, please comment!). I purchased this one on sale the other day to replace a more ragged one in my rotation because two things are certain – (1) sweater weather will be around for a few more weeks and (2) I can never have enough navy. I love the relaxed look of this one, and have my fingers crossed that the fabric combination will not show wear as quickly as some of my other purchases this season.
