Winter Duffle

The Minnesota snow provides a lovely backdrop for pictures, but the frigid temps get a little rough, so I’m happy to have a true winter look today with this navy duffle. I purchased it on a recent trip to Palm Springs, where I can’t visit without a stop to the cool Trina Turk flagship boutique. This trip’s splurge was this cute navy coat. There aren’t a lot of wool coats flying off the racks in Palm Springs, so I go it at a deep discount (although if you check out the links below, you can too with at least one of the available colors). Camel Cape

It’s been a while since something in a window truly drew me in to the store and resulted in the purchase, but this camel cape did just that. Darker and richer than beige, which I don’t wear well, I had been looking for a camel colored coat for a while but wanted something a little different than a classic overcoat. This fit the bill nicely, and provides an easy way to bring some interest to an otherwise basic black outfit. Plus, my regular puffer coat just doesn’t provide an appropriate backdrop for the bag, a lovely and over-the-top Christmas present from a dear friend.

Cropped

I don’t know about you, but January is the time of year when things get cropped for me after the holidays – budget and diet, primarily. It’s the time when I’m more apt to take a swing through the clothing section of Target when I’m there to pick up hand sanitizer and cold meds. And at times I find something unexpected, yet just what I “needed.” Like this cropped sweater (pun intended). Although the look has been in style this season, it’s not something I’m going to spend a good chunk of money on, since the occasions for which I would wear it are pretty limited. So, to find one that was super cozy and soft, and at the whopping price of under $12.00 (!), it gave me more of a mood boost than even the best of cold meds.
