Updated Eyelet

I have an Ann Taylor white eyelet dress from so many years ago that I’m not even sure of its age. I think I may have purchased it back in my days working there during law school, which mean that dress is OLD. With the eyelet look being hot again this season, I’ve worn it recently, but was also on the hunt for an updated version. I’ve found that the look can go a couple of ways that don’t work for me – too short and/or too cutesy. But I really like this version (coincidentally, again Ann Taylor), particularly the fully lined skirt. It’s summer casual but still polished enough to wear to the office.

Como Park Zoo and Conservatory

We hightail it out to the cabin on most weekends of the summer, but as the kids get older I also am tempted by all that the Twin Cities and surrounding areas have to offer. So, we’ve done our best to pepper in a few visits elsewhere, like our trip to the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. Our past trips to a local zoo have been to the much larger Minnesota Zoo, which is impressive in many ways but much different than the Como Park property. I loved our little morning there, and all that it had to offer. The surrounding grounds were gorgeous and so well-maintained, the zoo itself small and manageable, and the gardens in the Conservatory vibrant and colorful. The carousel (originally built in 1914) was the kids’ favorite part of the outing, and the perfect way to top off the day.

Domino Dot

Right around this time in the summer, after a few days in my office where the temperature hovers around 75 degrees or so, I realize that long sleeves are not an option. My closet tends to be heavy on dresses and more casual short sleeve shirts, so I’ve had my eye out for some summer shirts appropriate for the workday. I’m a sucker for polka dots, and love how this shirt looks good by itself or under a jacket if I need to dress it up a bit more.
