Have Money, Will Travel (for Pizza)

On a couple of recent occasions (a suggestion from my girlfriend, a recent blog post) I have heard about the “pizza barn” trend. A night out with the kids; a charming, scenic farm setting; and great wood-fired pizza? Sign me up. Toss in a trip down memory lane as we drive by our alma mater and the place where Trevor and I met? Give me a break. Important to know – the pizza barn season is quickly drawing to a close. Our lovely evening was at Red Barn Farm, which is in Northfield, MN and is open just through the end of October and only on Wednesday evenings (and one remaining Sunday, the 19th). Clear your calendar. Skip out of work early. Make the drive. Love the experience. There are plenty of other alternatives to Red Barn Farm (although I highly recommend it!), so check out the link here or do a little online research to find out if there is a pizza farm near you!

Reality Check
. Doing anything on a weeknight other than getting the kids fed and put to bed before collapsing on the couch is a pretty big feat in the Olson house. It involves a lot of hand wringing (should we? shouldn’t we? what will the weather be like? will it get too late for the kids?), scheduling, and stress. But every single time we pull the trigger and hop in the car to go on an adventure we are so happy we did. Pizza Hut is great for the other 51 weeks of the year, but this is the night we’ll all remember for a long time.

    First, your family is gorgeous!

    Second, I love your “reality check” section! It removes some of the lifestyle blog “shame” I feel when reading about the perfect outfit/recipe/activity and makes reading way more fun!

      Well, then, you should see the stuff that doesn’t even make it in to the Reality Checks! (;

      Hard not to love any tunic, but the plaid trend for this season is hard to resist! And, well, pizza is always hard to resist!

      Whew! I was worried I’d get a nasty note from you about that photo – “don’t scare those sweet chickens!”

      Thanks so much, Tracey! As far as the top goes – LOTS of plaid out there right now, but I really do love the bright colors and tunic shape of this one! And I’m a big fan of the regular 30% or 40% off sales at Gap! As for the family, I love those pictures too – it was hard to limit to just a few, and I forgot to include the ones with the cute horse!!
